這是首大家耳熟能詳的童謠，也是我很常哼唱的曲調，
簡單的旋律，流傳百年，被改編成各種版本，
包括中文的「野餐」：

今天天氣好清爽， 陌上野花香
青山綠水繞身旁， 小鳥聲聲唱
四方好友來相聚， 語多話又長
野外共餐多舒暢， 彼此祝安康

不過其實這首歌的原作可是不折不扣的聖歌，
是愛爾蘭的作詞家Joseph M. Scriven與作曲家Charles Con­verse
創作於19世紀的經典詩歌：

What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and grief to bear;
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer.
O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear;
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.

Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged, take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge; take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer.
