DRAGON IN THE CLOUDS

Across the jade horizon, morning lifts its veil
A silver breath of thunder rides the mountain gale

From the Yellow River’s turning, from the cloud-wrapped peaks above
Wakes the dragon of the heavens, ancient keeper, force of love
Long as rivers, bright as bronze, with scales like polished rain
He rises through the banners of the storm and calls the spring again

Hear the temple bells awaken
See the eastern sky unfold
Every valley lifts its lanterns
Every legend stirs from old

Dragon in the clouds, carry our hope on high
Over the fields and mountains, carve your path across the sky
Dragon in the clouds, where the red sun crowns the day
Whoa-oh-oh, we raise our voices as you soar away
Whoa-oh-oh, through the blue, forever bright
Guardian of the dawn, ride on tonight

The Jade Emperor watches as the golden currents turn
While carp leap through the rapids, chasing stars they long to earn
The dragon bends the rain-wind, sends the thirsty earth its grace
And a thousand peach trees blossom in the shelter of his wake

Hear the temple bells awaken
Feel the old drums call below
Through the gates of myth and memory
Let the living rivers flow

Dragon in the clouds, carry our hope on high
Over the fields and mountains, carve your path across the sky
Dragon in the clouds, where the red sun crowns the day
Whoa-oh-oh, we raise our voices as you soar away
Whoa-oh-oh, through the blue, forever bright
Guardian of the dawn, ride on tonight

When the long night gathers round us
When the far roads disappear
May your fiery whiskers guide us
May your rolling thunder draw us near
From the old tales to tomorrow
One bright promise still remains:
Where the dragon guards the heavens
Hope will rise like summer rain

Dragon in the clouds, carry our hope on high
Over the fields and mountains, carve your path across the sky
Dragon in the clouds, let the whole wide world proclaim
Whoa-oh-oh, the ancient wonder still endures in flame
Whoa-oh-oh, now the heavens blaze with light
Guardian of the dawn, rise beyond the night

Over jade-green mountains, past the morning sun
Dragon in the clouds—your endless flight goes on
