“How much rice was there on the table?”
“There was a little.”
“Oh! We needed to cook more!”
When the Lantern Festival came, as a good cook, I was always busy preparing everything carefully. Many ingredients had to be cut and prepared in advance. My uniformed staff, whom I knew in our school days, were treated impartially as we worked together during the festival.
“Come on in!” The restaurant was full of people and laughter. The slender waitress in a blouse asked, “How would you like your teas?” “Large and hot.” At that time of year, we sometimes got the chance to meet old friends we hadn’t seen for ages. We shook hands and enjoyed the moment together. What good music! What wonderful friends! The atmosphere was truly lively.
With these festive scenes, even a hen with her chicks was looking for food under the tree nearby. In that age of technology, we also accepted orders online so that the food could be delivered to the right place for customers.
At closing time, we were at the table, enjoying pizza and soda together. The Lantern Festival was not only busy, but also warm and joyful. Let’s have fun!
