9m88 提到，〈Tell Me〉創作動機受到日本實境節目《雙層公寓》參演者木村花的悲劇啟發。22 歲的她因為節目播出內容後受到網路攻擊，在 2020 年 5 月結束了自己年輕的生命。透過這首溫柔、脆弱、勇敢的歌，她希望傳遞一項訊息給所有遭遇類似困境的人：「當黑暗來臨時，你可以告訴自己不要活在別人的眼光當中，不要輕易把真實的自己，交給別人定義。」
