The Mountain In My Backyard是Vestige第二張專輯Ode的先行單曲
歌詞描繪了颶風、雷暴等自然現象如何塑造山脈和丘陵，大自然的每個行程都十分神奇而且每一個元素的參與都缺一不可。
中間有一段唸白說我每天帶著各種工具前往「後院的山」，暗示人類試圖控制和改變自然的。然而，可笑的是相比於大自然的塑造力量，人類的力量擁有的不過就是「拋光的技巧」。

Every day, I visit the mountain that is in my backyard. I take:
A shovel, a hammer, a bucket, dynamite, heavy-duty trousers, a helmet, a mask, a pair of boots, a saw, protective gloves... and many other construction equipment.

颶風與雷暴塑造出各種形狀的岩石。閃電、冰雹與龍捲風的狂風，慢慢雕刻著山脈與丘陵。
每天，我都會去拜訪後院的那座山。我帶著：鏟子、鐵鎚、水桶、炸藥、加厚工作褲、安全帽、口罩、靴子、鋸子、防護手套……還有一堆其他工具。
晨露與細雨細心地打磨著剩下的石頭。我們或許以為自己在雕塑山丘，但請記得——我們擁有的，只是打磨的技巧。
