Takkin’s musical genesis began in the pews of international churches, where American folk music, English hymns, and Mandarin ballads dovetail. Growing up in Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai, South Korea, Michigan and now taking up residence in Brooklyn, Takkin blends these sounds into a unique chimera; haunting vocals, sung in both English and Mandarin, grounded by pulsating, electronic beats. Takkin wrestles with feelings of longing in the dark spaces of solitude that transcend language, torn between the mundane and divine, the head and the heart.
