Mode 14's music is often referred to as electronica / alternative. His form of electronic music actually owes more to the synthesizer sounds of the legendary Yamaha® CS-80 in 1976. Other influences included Mojave 5, Placebo , Pulp, & shoegazers under the British 1990s indie scene.
His music also has bossanova infections at times, and his ability to improvise is highlighted in live performance.Before he founded Mode 14, Alex played in the band Kissing on the dance floor (2006-2009), Vodka Lime (2003-2005) & he is also the founder of Hong Kong indie POP band Smooth Jelly Club, appeared as vocal and guitarist (2010 - Now)
