This poem centers on the luòshān wind, one of the most regionally distinctive themes of Hengchun folk songs. The wind symbolizes both nature and the impermanence of fate, as well as human endurance. The rhyme flows sharply and rhythmically, using exaggeration and humor to portray life’s hardships. The line “Blown since birth till old age” carries both self-mockery and resilience — finding joy amid hardship, while gazing at the land with deep affection. Moving from landscape to self-reflection, the poem unfolds from the outer world to the inner one, revealing the emotional depth and texture of folk language.
