“Gone Too Far” is an indie R&B/pop song co-produced by Cameron Kuwada and Danny Leung himself. The instruments include a mixture of synth pads and some live instruments such as electric guitar and vintage piano tracks. The electric piano chords create a blue mood while the jazzy piano and playful whistles balance up the vibe.
The lyrics are about a couple who are trying to save their dying long-term relationship. “What could make the relationship last? and “what could we try?” are the constant questions in their conversations. They started to open their relationship in order to simulate their love life. But they are struggling to trust each other or accept that the person they love is to be shared with other people.
Breathe, breathe in breath out
Share all your doubts
What else we need
Let's work it out
We could give in
something out of bounds
Kiss, Kiss me goodbye
You feel my heart
Kiss, kiss him goodbye
You feel a spark (feeling a spark)
But never mind
We're still side by side
Have we gone too far?
Assure me you won't leave me in the dark
No matter how far
We knew we'd break down like a shooting star
Can we all have it all
Even I'm not too sure
It's human nature
Just want it all
Try, what could we try?
What will suffice?
How we survive?
We’re in denial
That's who we are
Born to play with fire
Have we gone too far?
Assure me you won't leave me in the dark
No matter how far
We knew we'd break down like a shooting star
Can we all have it all
Even I'm not too sure
It's human nature
That's all
Have we gone too far?
Assure me you won't leave me in the dark
No matter how far
We knew we'd break down like a shooting star
Can we all have it all
Even I'm not too sure
It's human nature
Just want it all
