The Splendour Falls

The Splendour Falls is a concept album that portrays the destiny a mythological kingdom in the mist of snow. Employing the symphonic metal poem Melancholy of Despair Suite as the base inspiration, the album enriches the plot of the epic poem with various songs that echoes with the suite. Tragic beauty is the key theme throughout the whole album.

The development of the concept is in accordance to the storyline. The prince is serious injured, both physically and mentally, in a coup d'état, losing his kingdom and his princess to the traitor. The traitor's force swarmed all over the kingdom, and the kingdom fell into an era of terror.

The prince then was rescued by Mother Nature and the Goddess of moon. They healed his wounds and obliged him with the power of the light, enabling him to get back on his feet again, and start the quest of redeeming his kingdom and his princess.

The prince returns to the kingdom with the support of the force of the light. He defeats the traitor and resumes the ascendancy of the kingdom. Yet he found that his princess is already deeply corrupted and attracted to the traitor. Surprised and dejected, he gave up the kingdom to the goddesses and went on an exile. He found out that he cared for his princess the most, even more than the kingdom or even the light side of God. He jumped into the lake of hell in immense hopelessness.
